Fighting Poverty and Expanding Opportunity in Hartford

Join us for the Jewish Community Relations Council’s Program of the Poverty Initiative on Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. at Congregation Tikvoh Chadoshoh, 180 Still Road, Bloomfield, CT. Let us honor our Jewish imperative of tikkun olam and take this opportunity to do our part as a community to raise our collective voice, show our concern and help repair the injustices of the world right next door. RSVP Betsy Richards, 860.727.6169 or brichards@jewishhartford.org. Click here for more information.

Homelessness within the Farmington Valley

Another important issue concerning us is homelessness within the Farmington Valley. You may not think this happens, but it does to returning veterans, people living with mental health issues and other adult children of the Farmington Valley. Following the Kabbalat Shabbat service on December 12, a speaker on the issue of Supportive Housing in the Farmington Valley will provide enlightening information. Come to hear what this is all about.

Sisterhood

Our next Sisterhood book group will be held on Wednesday, December 17th at 7:30pm at Barbara Fichtenholtz's house on Fox Den Road in West Simsbury.  We will be discussing the heart-warming novel, Broken for You by Stephanie Kallos.
